Meet your neighbors at our next...

Friday, September 18 and October 2, from 5:30-7:30.
Click here to receive e-mail notices.

The concept is simple: bring your beverage (of any kind). The host provides glasses, ice, and a simple nibble. Many people attend Pubs often and have made good neighborhood friends. The biweekly invitation, with the week's meeting address, is e-mailed.

Friends Support Team

Meets monthly on the first Saturday, from 10:30-11:29 AM (locations TBA).
Falconbridge Village Friends provides neighborly support for Falconbridge residents who are temporarily experiencing a health care crisis. Services provided include the kinds of things neighbors typically do for each other in caring communities -- things like bringing a meal, picking up medicine or groceries, stopping by to visit, bringing someone to a doctor appointment, loaning medical equipment. The advantage of the team approach is that no one needs to feel overly burdened because the team collaborates, and no one need feel like a burden, because having many participants spreads out the responsibilities. This is a great way to build friendships and to feel appreciated as part of a caring community.

Art

   Monthly
Different members host the monthly meetings. Members discuss and critique painting they have done.

Books

First Wednesday of the month at 7 PM
Different members host the monthly meetings where previously agreed-upon books are discussed.

Bridge

   No formal schedule.
In the past, monthly bridge nights were held at the Falconbridge clubhouse. The number participating has waned to the extent that it was not worth using the clubhouse, when one or two tables can be played in people's houses. The coordinators will test the interest again in September or October. Meanwhile, using this form to indicate YOUR interest may help reignite others interest. A coordinator will contact you.

CSA

Pick up veggies and flowers at a garage in Falconbridge weekly.
We support a wonderful young couple of local farmers (Bluebird Meadows, in Hurdle Mills, NC) by buying local! For 20 weeks (Spring through Summer) we get a weekly delivery of beautiful fresh organic veggies (and flowers, if you subscribe to flower delivery too). They send us a weekly blog with information about what we'll be getting in our "share" as well as recipes. Go to the blog — bluebirdmeadows2009csa.blogspot.com/ — to read more!

Knitting

   No formal schedule.

Walking

Wednesday and Friday at 9:00 AM (10:00 AM in Winter)
Group starts from the Falconbridge Clubhouse

Wine Tasting

Meets monthly on a Saturday evening at different homes.
We blind taste six wines chosen by the host and based on a wine related theme. The evening starts at 7pm with a glass of sparkling wine followed by tasting and ranking the six selected wines. We complete the evening by discussing the wines over coffee and dessert. The cost per person for the evening is $15.
